After the album-tour-album cycle of Script for a Jester's Tear, Fugazi, and the subsequent Euro-only release of Real to Reel, Marillion retreated to Berlin's Hansa Ton Studios with Rolling Stones producer Chris Kimsey to work on their next opus. Armed with a handful of lyrics born out of a self-confessed acid trip, Fish came up with the elaborate concept for 's Misplaced Childhood.
  5. Goltinos says:
Misplaced Childhood was Marillion's first full concept album consisting of two continuous pieces of music on the two sides of the vinyl record. The story has thematic elements of lost love, sudden success, acceptance, and lost childhood, along with an upbeat ending. As Fish explains, he conceived the concept during a hour acid trip.

Remastered • 5-disc set with on blu-ray • 4LP vinyl box. Marillion‘s classic studio album Misplaced Childhood, which features the hits Kayleigh and Lavender, will be reissued as two deluxe editions in June, including a five-disc set that will feature a lossless remix of the album created by producer, musician and surround maestro Steven Wilson!
  9. Tojabei says:
Misplaced Childhood is seen by many as the definitive Marillion album, and it is hard to argue. The music is stylistically typical of their first three albums and has far fewer flat spots than Fugazi. It also contains that most unproglike of beasts, a hit single. The infectious "Kayleigh" reached number 2 on the British charts. EMI. /5().
